How to Use the Unit Converter
The SnappedKit.com Unit Converter helps you convert across length, weight, temperature, speed, data storage, data transfer rate, area, volume, time, pressure, energy, and fuel efficiency in one place.
1. Start with category and units
Select a category at the top, enter your value, then choose source and target units. Results update live as you type, and the URL updates automatically so you can share the exact setup.
2. Use Smart Search for faster input
You can type natural queries such as 5 km to miles, 32 f to c, or 1 acre in m2. The tool parses the query, sets category/units/value, and recalculates.
3. Check the formula panel
The formula box shows the exact rule used. Ratio-based categories use a base-unit method. Temperature uses affine formulas (for example, F = C x 9/5 + 32). Fuel efficiency handles reciprocal cases like L/100km = 100 / (km/L).
4. Verify with the all-units table
Below the converter, the all-units table expands your input value to every unit in the active category. This is useful for quick comparison and validation.
5. Data mode: decimal vs binary
For Data Storage and Data Transfer Rate, switch between decimal (1000-based) and binary (1024-based) conversions. This is useful when comparing storage specs and transfer rates.
6. Save workflows with favorites and recents
- Favorites persist in local storage for repeat usage.
- Recents are session-only and reset when the browsing session ends.
- Popular chips provide quick category-specific presets.
Common formulas
- Inches to centimeters: cm = in x 2.54
- Celsius to Fahrenheit: F = C x 9/5 + 32
- kWh to joules: J = kWh x 3,600,000
Precision and very large/small values
Use the precision selector (0-10 decimals) to control rounding. Extreme magnitudes are displayed in scientific notation for readability.
